It’s really important we hear from people like you; people who experienced the events or have something to share.

Share your experiences by using our online survey. Here is a copy of the questions so you can think about your responses beforehand.

What will happen with this information?

The Government has established an independent inquiry to look at the preparedness and response activities of local and central governments; the communities and businesses who were disproportionately impacted; the support provided by iwi; and the roles played by support groups and organisations that provided essential infrastructure.

Through your experiences and those of the many others affected, the Inquiry will look to draw lessons from all three severe weather events to ensure New Zealand’s emergency management system is ready to respond to future natural emergencies.

We understand that the memories and the impacts of these events are still very raw for some. We assure you that we will protect your information. We will not release anything publicly without your permission.
